Just a note to report that the Emergency Preparedness workshop May 19 held at the West End Community Center went very well.

We had an amazing turnout of 75 people. I collected many e-mail addresses for future contact. I started the event with a little introduction about WERA based on your brochure, then introduced the program. Lt Michael Smith of Vancouver Fire and Rescue gave a great talk. There were many questions. Most people stayed right through to the end at about 4:30 pm. A big thanks to the West End Community Centre for providing the venue.

I'll make some notes about lessons learned from this event. Next event is planned for October, targeting owners and managers of multi-unit apartments and dwellings in the West End. I also hope to develop more traffic to the website, particularly to www.wera.bc.ca/emergency.
